It is now possible to digiscope with cameras without filter threads.  The [ TSN-DA4 ] Universal Camera Adapter utilizes the tripod mount on the digital camera for mounting and has vertical and horizontal adjustment for perfect axis alignment.
The use of a wide angle type eyepiece is recommended as vignetting will not occur (in most cases) through the entire zoom range of the digital camera.  A zoom eyepiece can also be used and will give a wide range of focal lengths but vignetting will occur at the cameras wide angle.

For digital cameras with filter threads, the use of the TSN-DA1 and an adapter ring is necessary to digiscope.  The TSN-DA1 perfectly centers the camera lens and eyepiece so  every time the adapter is connected to the scope you are ready to photograph.
The use of a wide angle type eyepiece is recommended as vignetting will not occur (in most cases) through the entire zoom range of the digital camera.  A zoom eyepiece can also be used and will give a wide range of focal lengths but vignetting will occur at the cameras wide angle. For digital cameras with a protruding lens (a lens that comes out when the camera is turned on), a conversion lens adapter available from the camera manufacturer is necessary.

These type of digital cameras have very bright lenses but because of the large diameter, vignetting occurs easily.  Although it is impossible to eliminate vignetting through the entire zoom range, the use of Kowa's long eye-relief eyepieces (TSE-17HD/17HE) will minimize vignetting. With a regular eyepiece digiscoping with these types of cameras is impossible but through the use of the Kowa TSN-VA1 / TSN-VA2 you can digiscope with high power zoom digital cameras.
Vignetting will occur at the cameras wide angle, but in the middle of the zoom range this will disappear.  Since the TSN-VA1 / TSN-VA2 are adapters with an integrated "super-long eye-relief lens", the use of a regular eyepiece is not necessary.

Like conventional SLR cameras, a digital SLR can be used for digiscoping with the use of a photo attachment and a camera mount.
When compared to other forms of digiscoping, digital SLR digiscoping is limited by the inability to zoom and the large F number, but the shutter speed, ISO, etc. can be set manually to achieve the desired results without vignetting.

*Some digital SLR cameras can use the TSN-DA1 digital camera adapter to digiscope.  To use the TSN-DA1 the camera lens must have a focal length of approx. 30-70mm and have a filter thread size of no more than 58mm.
